%$#!. feeling blue. job

I went to an open interview at Raley’s today and let’s just say… I feel very rejected. I was doing so well! The manager liked me but he said that I didn’t do so hot on my personality test so he couldn’t offer me the job. I really didn’t understand the personality test. They ask things like “Would you rather pick where you work or have co-workers who are easy to get along with?” I wanted both but it was just one or the other. Most questions were like that so I switched around too much I guess. *cries* I feel so bad. He told me to reapply and come back next week. He also said that he wasn’t really hiring… I’m not sure if that was just a test of commitment but I guess I’m coming back next Monday. *sigh* This is why it’s so hard to get a job.

After failing quite miserably I went to pick up some more applications. Most places didn’t have anymore applications; meaning many people are trying to find work just like I am and resulting as more competitions. Crappers. I didn’t think it was going to be that hard. I’m so jealous of the people who have jobs; I want a monthly salary too!

Aww Halley, don’t feel discouraged.I know its hard but you have to keep moving and filling in those applications.

I hate those personality tests too, they just seem like a waste of time to me. Hopefully he might have something for you so just keep on at it and good luck :)

Finding jobs are quite hard to find lately. I guess you have to keep applying and looking around for vacancies. Hopefully in due time you’ll find a job. You shouldn’t be discouraged by it. Just take it as a learning experience. I’ve never been at an interview before though. Good luck with finding a job though!

Don’t worry! I think your best bet would to find a job at a clothing store. You’re pretty and it’ll work to your benefit! It kinda sucks that you’re at a little disadvantage because you’re 16. People usually hire 18 year olds, even when they say they are equal opportunity employers. Maybe you can also try applying at a waterpark/themepark? They usually don’t discriminate against age.

Yeah, the job market is insanely hard, especially for teens. Most jobs are also by the arden area too, but with the price of gas now days, it’s not worth the drive.

Whatever you do, do not apply for Vector Marketing. It’s a huge waste of time and energy. Total scam…

Other than that, I really don’t know any other places for you except fast food. ^_^;; Wish you luck!

I understand how you feel. I’ve been to a few interviews and being rejected too. But anyhow, all the best on looking for a job ya. Just treat the process as an experience. =]

Getting a job sucks, especially if you are part time, they treat you like you are dispensable, like you are less than the full-timers :P Just because I don’t want to work in retail for the rest of my life doesn’t make them any better than me :P

Just keep trying, I had the same problem with a personality test once, but I knew the manager so he set up an interview with his district manager, who hired me :) I got lucky lol. Sometimes it is all about who you know, see if you know anyone who can help you out! :)

Sorry to hear about the sucky reality of getting a job… it sucks far too much, and there’s a ton of discrimination as well that surrounds it. It’s always best to always stay neutral when asked between questions… the more interviews you go through, the better you will get at it ^_^
