Online I’m known as Halley Le. I’m a 16-year-old, fun-loving, free-spirited, and sentimentally-attached kind of girl. My obsessions include: my grades, clothes, and junk food. I love watching thoughts-provoking movies and taking random pictures of flowers and pretty things (below) around my backyard. My favorite colors can be found in an Autumn sunset and my heart is placed in the gentle breeze of summer.

I was born in Vietnam and came to America (with my family of 5) at the age of 6 in search of a new beginning. I went back to Vietnam last summer; retracing my childhood and realizing how different it would have been if I hadn’t came to America. Although I love my relatives and the people I left behind, I am really glad I came to the U.S. Vietnam is such a bittersweet and heartbreaking place for me.

I’m currently residing in California with my parents. I have two siblings; one in San Jose and the other attending school at UCDavis. Although my parents can be such a pain sometimes, I grew a lot closer to them as I got older and wiser. Most people starts to drift apart from their family during their teenage years, thinking they’re grown up and don’t need their mom and dad anymore, but that’s not the case for me. I admit I had that same mindset once until I had my first heartbreak and realize that the only people that will always be there for me is my family. Although they were ignorant about my situation, I still felt loved and comforted just spending more time with them. I don’t regret losing [him] because in the long run, I found something much better.

School wise I study; study hard because a good education is the only thing that will get me where I want to be in life. I strife for a carefree lifestyle where money, respect, and love is easily obtained. Disappointments? I had many but I keep my chin up and walk tall because I know what doesn’t kill me will only make me stronger. I cry whenever I’m stressed and overwhelmed. Sometimes it’s hard to live up to expectations but I know it’ll be worth it.
